POSITION:
The Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek outstanding candidates applying a systems approach to understanding complex problems in plant biology. All areas of plant systems biology will be considered, including the modeling of genetic networks affecting plant phenotype, how genotype and environment impact phenotype, effects of ecosystem changes on plant diversity and sustainability, the complexity of cellular and physiological processes, and plant interactions with other organisms. Research may focus on model, natural or agricultural systems. Candidates who use mathematical and computational approaches to address biological questions will be of particular interest.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have a Ph.D., at least two years of postdoctoral experience or its equivalent, a strong publication record, the potential to develop a vigorous extramurally funded research program, and a commitment to research and teaching excellence. This is an academic year research and teaching position with primary responsibilities in research. The individual will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentor graduate students, and develop collaborations.

The Department of Botany and Plant Pathology (http://www.btny.purdue.edu) is part of a large and vibrant life sciences community with many interdisciplinary research groups and core support facilities in the Colleges of Agriculture, Engineering and Science. In addition to excellent graduate programs in plant biology, plant pathology and weed science within the department, faculty also participate in an interdisciplinary graduate program in the life sciences (http://www.gradschool.purdue.edu/PULSe).
