Environmental Plant Studies Major
If you have a strong interest in environmental issues and want to emphasize work with green plants, consider the
Environmental Plant Studies major (new in 2001). This major gives you
a firm grounding in plant biology, yet also focuses on present and impending environmental issues, such as
restoration of wetlands, prairies, and other natural areas; biodiversity; control of invasive species;
global climate change; and phytoremediation.
We encourage you to participate in the
College of Agriculture's International Studies Minor.
Environmental Plant Studies is a good choice for you if you want to work for
- nature and environmental organizations, or
- botanical gardens and museums, or
- state and national natural resource agencies, or
- environmental consulting companies.
