This
course is designed to acquaint students to the
world of plants and fungi. The course serves
as an overview of the basic principles of plant and fungal biology
suitable for non-majors at any level to achieve an appreciation
for the role plants and fungi play in human existence, and to acquire
a fundamental knowledge with issues such as global warming, world
hunger, agricultural and environmental sustainability, and the
impact genetically modified
plants and fungi may play in attempting to address the problems
associated with these issues. |
| Objectives: |
1)
Gain an appreciation of the diversity and impact plants and fungi
have on everyday life.
2) Be introduced to some of the research and tools being
used in the plant science discipline.
3) To acquire a fundamental knowledge of some of the current
plant science related issues.
