The USDA-ARS / Purdue University Wheat Genomics Group submitted 532 wheat expressed sequence tags (EST) sequences to GenBank near the end of June. Prior to our submission, only 8 wheat ESTs were present in the databases. These ESTs represent genes that are expressed in young wheat seedings two weeks after germination. Many cellular processes are represented. GenBank accession numbers for these submissions are: BE217070 - BE216906, BE213679 - BE213514 and BE213433 - BE213233.

 

An unusual wheat EST was identified that resembles the Cf2 receptor-like gene in tomato that confers resistance to the fungal pathogen Cladosporium fulvum.
