Welcome to the Winter Annual Weed and SCN Management website! Soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines, SCN) has long been a threat to profitable soybean production in the North Central region of the United States. Long-standing SCN management recommendations include rotation to a non-host crop and use of SCN resistant soybean cultivars. Winter annual weeds have become prevalent in production fields and certain winter annual weed species were recently identified as alternative hosts to SCN. This research is designed to assess the importance of winter annual weed management as an SCN management tactic.

This website provides the latest research findings and managment recomendations regarding the interaction of SCN and winter annual weeds.
